People I owe cake to.

Please ensure all personal belongings are kept with you at all times.

I want to post this.

On Saturday, I went up to Doncaster; it was just for two days. My aunt had come from India; work related things, and this was probably the only time I would have to go up there. Besides, we've got close family friends there also. Anyway, I picked up TIME magazine to read on the train, this being due to the fact that Notion was unavailable, as was Classic fm.

This particular issue of TIME celebrated the "most influential people in the world." Of course, this was TIME 100. I flicked through, expecting the expected; you know Barack Obama, a few surprises in there; Chris Colfer -someone from "Glee" apparently. I have no idea, but he's gay. David Cameron etc. Not my point... amongst the likes of Barack Obama, Julian Assange, Gabrielle Giffords etc I caught sight of a black and white image. The photograph itself was rather obscure, so I just skipped past, to more distinct personalities; Oprah Winfrey, Colin Firth. After reading the other 99 influential people, I went back to the black and white image; it was actually a double page, with a tiny paragraph on the bottom left corner:

Justin Bieber
Phenomenon
 By Usher

"From the minute I met Justin, I knew this kid possessed a certain confidence that only a star could have. He was born a star. He knew what he wanted to accomplish; all he had to do was get everyone else to believe it. Now, looking back at his incredible run, the reality of who he is and what he's accomplished far exceeds anybody's expectations of him. What's interesting and will keep the world watching is that at the same time he's having this incredible success, he's like any other kid living a normal life. It's like our vocal coach "Mama" Jan Smith tells us: You gave up normality a long time ago for spectacular — not many people can be that, so enjoy it. And you know what? Stay tuned, because his story will get even better."

My first reaction was "why?" Justin Bieber, the seventeen year old singer, from Canada; an influential person. What's up with that? I read it again, slowly this time, and recalled the first instance when I had come across Justin, or rather 'Kidrauhl', his YouTube channel. I liked him then. His story was the typical 'kid from small town, doing what he loves etc etc'. Cute.

It was at that point, as I was still reading, I considered perception. To a twenty year old female, Justin Bieber is not considered inspirational. I don't look up to him. I was thinking about myself again. Only myself. I have my own dreams and aspirations. I want to be a travel writer. One of my idols is Bill Bryson, thanks to my dad, who too is a fan. Anyway, perception....

...If Bill Bryson is my idol, why can't Justin be a young kid's idol? Inspiration? Someone who wants to become as successful as Bieber would undoubtedly aspire to such artists. People have different ideologies. You know that saying, right? ..."One man's trash is another man's treasure" --although since we live in such a politically correct society, I'm wrong to use the term 'man', when instead 'person' would have been better suited.

ANYWAY, (I totally suck at being succinct, and coherent) my point is/was you might hate someone, or something, but that someone or something, has some profound value to another person.
